    passive

1-Are the passive tenses in these sentences correct?

-This programme became very popular after the main presenter was voted the most interesting tv personality of the year.
-Look at those men in dark glasses! I think we are going to be watched.

2-Is it right if I change the following sentence into the passive like this.

A-Nobody has told me what to do.
B-I havenot been told what to do.

    Re: passive

It's not a tense, but the sentences are right.

I'm confused about the following sentence.
-Look at those men in dark glasses! I think we are going to be watched.

-n other words, Wy don't we say:

-Look at those men in dark glasses! I think we are being watched.

    Re: passive

If you say i think we are going to be watched, then it would mean you are not being watched right now, but you are expecting them to see you.

And i think we are being watched means that they are watching you the present moment.

    Re: passive

So, both have a slightly different meaning.

    THE CORRECT ONE IS:

-This programme became very popular after the main presenter
had been voted the most interesting tv personality of the year.

past simple, AFTER + past perfect

-Look at those men in dark glasses! I think we are going to be watched.

    THE CORRECT ONE IS:

-Look at those men in dark glasses! I think we are being watched.

LOOK is a key word that indicates the present continuous tense

    Not a teacher

You can, and you should normally. My "" was just an indication that your sentence was grammatical.

Consider this situation: a spy meets a contact on a park bench with a view to discussing a secret. Before starting the conversation he says 'Look at that man in dark glasses. Anything we say will be overheard.' In the second sentence he is talking about the future. He could equally well say 'I think we are going to be watched'. In a case like that, the juxtaposition of those sentences is fine.

But in most cases, 'we are being watched' is the more appropriate choice.

And - fuadha - note that Sasha2008 is not a teacher or a native speaker. A sequence of simple perfects is not incorrect. Nor is the past perfect for the first in the sequence ungrammatical. They are both fine (although excessive use of the past perfect in speech can make you sound like a book )
