    The air felt empty

It looked amazing. It was fi fty metres long with a steamy white mist rising from it, promising refuge from the cold winter morning. The thing that struck me most was the sound a faint splashing with pure quiet in between. The air felt empty.

The air felt empty?? what does it mean?

    Re: The air felt empty

I think it means "still and quiet", or noiseless and without movement.
