    Syllables counting

    Hi

How can I count the number of syllables of a word?

Actually,my teacher taught me a good way to count the number of syllables .He told me to put my hand under my chin and say the word . The number my chin touch my hand is the number of syllables.
I found it a good method, but I need another method.

    Thanx

The method your teacher told you was to count the number of time Jaw Drops to say a word, by placing your palm under your chin.

Another method is, counting the number of vowel sounds which occur in a word, number of vowel sounds mostly equal the number of syllables. A syllable cannot exist without a vowel sound.
