    narrow the range of emotion

    Hello!

I have big trouble understadning the following sentences. Can you please explain?

    1. Biotechnology narrows the range of 'acceptable' emotions. The future is already with us int he shape of drugs such as Prozac.

    2. With or without a climate deal, the game's up for the carbon economy.

    3. We need new stuff that will zero in on the vital difference between living and non-living systems and help us transform robots from the lumbering arms of the car factory or the single-use cute little home machines.

Re: narrow the range of emotion

Depression, unhappiness, etc, are now controllable to some extent by these medicines, so the ability to control such emotions will make them less acceptable and put pressure on people feeling that way to take prozac, etc.

The carbon economy is finished- it has been shown up and won't work.

zero in on = focus on
