    toward x towards

Are the words toward and towards really completely interchangeable?
    Any preferences regarding usage?

    Re: toward x towards

I'd say they are pretty much interchangeable.

    toward (AmE)
    towards(BrE)

I think so too, though here, both are allowed, it's a question of personal choice. Strunk & White tell us to prefer 'toward.'

By the way, you keep using an X in your titles; I think you mean 'vs' as in English we would reserve that symbol for multiplication or genetic cross-breeding, but not for a grammatical dialectic sort of thing.

Thanks for the answer and for the reference Strunk & White! I didn't know it. Good one!

Sorry for that 'X'. Yes, that is exactly what I mean, 'versus'. So it is better to write the post titles as
"toward vs towards", "girl friend vs girlfriend", etc. - ok?
And the ampersand symbol "toward & towards", is it also ok?

I really appreciate any comments in my posts regarding grammar mistakes or writing style, thanks.

    Re: toward x towards

Yes, the ampersand is also okay, but less explicit perhaps than vs.
