    Using "able to" for past tence...

    Friends, can we use able to in past tense like this: "I didn't able to come online because I was busy" or should it be like this: "I wasn't able to come online because I was busy".

    Here I'm confuse regarding the usage of "didn't" with able to. Please help in clarifying this.

    Thanks

    No, you can't use didn't with able to, Razer. This collocation uses the be verb;

    be able to

    was/were able to

    has/have been able to

    Try this:

    I was not able to ... or I wasn't able to ...

    He/she/it was not able to ... or He/she/it wasn't able to ...

    We/you/they were not able to ... or you/we/they weren't able to ...

    I didn't come online because I was busy.

    He/she/it didn't come online ...

    We/you/they didn't come online ...
