    To my mind only 'has' works.

    I may well be missing something but

    ?? The way the film eventually got made indicates a certain ring of destiny to it. ??

    sounds odd.

    For 'indicate' to work I feel we'd need some additions, for example,

    The way the film eventually got made indicates, like the story itself, that there is a certain ring of destiny to it.

    I went for 'indicates', but I thought 'has' would work too. I had to choose one. I got confused.

    Yes, I agree that this is the way to use "indicate", but look at this:

    'indicates' may fit, but 'has' fits better, which answers the question.
