    Dance-off match

    Hi all:
Would anybody please help me with meaning of "dance-off matches"?
    The context is the following:
A group of kids is playing a game and they are pretending they are wolves and "they were always doing dance-off matches and wolf cries"

Were they challenging each other and howling?

    Thanks a lot.
