    Cool Red carpet meltdown

Please, in a context of TV fast and easy celebrity and media serving shallow and piling up messages and contents, what does "red carpet meltdown" mean?

Does it make sense as "red carpet where appearing in front of the cameras just to show off doing or saying whatever thing in order to?

    Thank You

The context isn't full enough for me to state categorically but I'll give one example of what I believe it to be.

Imagine a celebrity exiting a limo, all set to knock the fans and the photogs dead, to really impress everyone. All of a sudden she trips and falls headlong down the red carpet, her dress coming up around her butt and she sustains a bloody nose - major red carpet meltdown.

    Re: Red carpet meltdown

I was assuming that it was a display of temper or immaturity, not clumsiness.

For movie premiers and the big Hollywood awards shows, there is a red carpet that the celebrities walk down on their way inside. Usually there are cameras and interviews outside on the red carpet before the show starts. If someone has a temper tantrum there, she had a red carpet meltdown.

Maybe not so helpful, BW, as Barb has raised an excellent point. Do you have a link to where you read it or more context?

    Re: Red carpet meltdown

I agree with Barb. I would assume it's a tantrum: screaming at paparazzi, having a hissy fit with some other member of the glitterati, etc. I have also seen it refer to a star who gives a blabbering, semi-coherent interview at a star-studded event, to the point where you think they've had too much to drink, smoke, snort, etc.

    For example, check these out:
