    the egotism of man as he plunders our planet

    I'm not sure what 'our' here refers to. Does it refer to 'we people'? Could it possibly mean some outer space creatures?

    Without further context, "our planet" means Earth. "We" are "man", yes "we people".
    It's a bad expression because it uses both "he" and a variant of "we" for the same referent. (This assumes that a person is speaking. If the speaker is an animal or an alien, it could be right).
