    French angels?

"As they alighted, the drivers flashed long tanned legs under designer tennis dresses, or stilettos straight from Rome, offsetting suits cut by French angels."

I can guess waht it means from the context, but like to know why using "French angels"? Does it have any special implication?

    Thanks~

It is probably referring to suits by French designers.
