Smile MAKING A GRAMATICAL CHOICE PRESET OR PRSENT CONTINUOUS

In an English exercise where one must complete the sentence using the correct alternatives, is as follows:

example: We always GO to the cinema on a Saturday evening.
Choice: A) go B) is working.

??????? My brother ____________ in Munich this year.
Choice: A) works B) is working

I consider the appropiate answer as: "IS WORKING (choice B).
    Present continuous.

However, I feel that both choices are valid, but having to make a choice, I would use choice B.

I would appreciate your opinion on the matter.

"My brother is working in Munich this year" is correct because you are specifying that it is this year, we use the present continuous to describe things that are happening now.
"My brother works in Munich." We use the present simple to describe things that are true in general.
For example, "My brother works in Frankfurt, but this year he is working in Munich."
"My brother works in Frankfurt", Frankfurt is his usual place of employment.
"My brother is working in Munich this year", Munich is not his usual place of employment, but this year he is working there.
