    once too many times

    Hi,
    Could you please tell me the meaning of once too many times and it finally caught up to him in the sentence below. Or, could you please say this in a different way.

    He acted like a jerk once too many times and it finally caught up to him.

    It's better if you reword it thus: He acted like a jerk one time too many and it finally caught up with him.

    It means that he had behaved stupidly too often, and when he behaved like that one more time, he suffered the consequences.
