    tell me the meaning

    could you please tell me the meaning foe the following sentence. i found this in newspaper.

    Farmers are forced to plant indigo in some part of the land they till.

    also i cannot find the exact meaning for the above underlined phrases. why they used that words there? and what it means? Pls tell me?

    The word till has a differerent meaning from the you know.. Have a look at this

    till2  /tɪl/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [til] Show IPA ,
    –verb (used with object) 1. to labor, as by plowing or harrowing, upon (land) for the raising of crops; cultivate.
    2. to plow.

    –verb (used without object) 3. to cultivate the soil.


    Now again read your sentence, I hope your doubts are cleared now.
