    will/would

    In the morning:

    Jenny: My friends will be staying over at my house tonight
    Tom: Can I join too?

    Later in the day at Jenny's house:

    Jenny's Mom: I think you've got it wrong. Jenny's friends are not staying over tonight.
    Tom: Oh I see. Jenny told me that her friends will/would be staying over tonight.

    Which one can be used in this context?
