Question How can I express this?

Videos like Ugly Betty. How should I call it when I want to categorize it a bit. It is not a sitcom, I guess. But, which category it belongs to? And, can I call it an American "TV series"? Or ... "video"? Should I say "American" or "US"? Thanks! Emily

I have never seen the show, but I have seen it referred to as a comedy-drama television series.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks, Greg.

Still the other question is there. Should I say, I like watching "American" videos? Or should I say, I like watching "US" videos? I refer to videos from the USA. Thanks!

Re: How can I express this?

I would say American videos, rather than US videos. I think the adjective American tends to be a little more closely associated with our people and our culture; the abbreviation US tends to be a little more closely associated with our country as a national entity. I don't even know if that makes any sense, and it's certainly not a rule. It's just my feeling as an American.

"American" as an adjective for USA is understood globally. It's not strictly correct, but there's no easy alternative.
