When you expect two things to be the same, but you find them unmatched you conclude that there is a discrepancy:
-According to the data collected by our observer, the victim had died long before 10 p.m. However, the police report says he had died around 11 p.m. So there is a discrepancy between the reports, because we expect them to tell us the same thing, but they clash with each other. -Discrepancies occur in figures, bills, systems, computers and etc.
When we say two things are different, we mean that they are not the same and we donít necessarily expect them to be the same, so a difference is a distinguishing feature: -The main difference between this version of the software and its previous version is that fact that the graphics of the new version are designed by a French designer.
Notice that difference is word with many meanings and is frequently used in English. If you still seem to need more explanations let us know.
