    I knew I might complete the work

    Which sentenc is correct.

    When will 'that' be used ?

    Both sentences are fine:


    • I knew I might complete the work.
    • I knew that I might complete the work.


    In that context, that is optional because it lacks semantic content. It introduces a clausal object: knew + [clause].
