Can I say ”Which are greater in number, A or B?"

I've been wondering what the most natural way of asking about the ratio in number of something.
I mean, is it correct to say,
"Which are greater in number in this school, boys or girls?" ?
If it is grammatically OK, is it natural to say it in conversations?
I also want to ask if it would be more natural to say:
"Which are there more of, boys or girls, in this school?"
    or,
"Which is greater, the number of boys or that of girls, in this school?"

I would like to know if those expressions are acceptable or not, say, in conversations and/or statistical papers.
Would anyone help me with these questions, please?

Re: Can I say ”Which are greater in number, A or B?"

I would ask, "Are there more boys or girls in this school?"
And greater, in this sense, is spelled as such. The last spelling you used is for grating vegetables.
