    a title

    Dear teachers,

please can you have a look at the following attempts to translate a title of a diploma work...

Possibilities of valorization of individual´s finances.
Possibilities how to valorize financial means of individuals.
Possibilities how to valorize individual´s finances.

Or should I use the term ´physical entity´ rather than ´individual´?
Is the verb valorize chosen correctly for this context?
Thanks a lot for your help. KP

    Re: a title

'Valorize' is a very rare verb in English, Katerina, and I don't think it is appropriate here. To be honest, I am not sure what the thesis title may really refer to-- 'individual' means a private person, not a company, for instance. If that is the case, then perhaps it would be best as:

    The Evaluation of Individual Finances

    Re: a title

Thank you very much for your help, Mister Micawber!

I was afraid that the word for word translation will not work...
Please, can I explain what the title should mean?....
The term individual seems to be good here- it isn´t a company, it is any individual person who has got his/her own trade certificate.
The verb should express- one has got a certain sum of money and wants to somehow invest them not to be in a loss, to make a profit..
I would really appreciate any further help!!!!!
    Thank you. KP

    Re: a title

What is a trade certificate? Is the individual doing this investment for others as a job?

Thank you very much Mister Micawber!
It is amazing that you help so promptly...thank you!
Well, in the Czech Republic, where I come from, you need a trade certificate to be able to run a business...of any kind...e.g. to clean the windows, to teach languages..anything...you need it to issue invoices..

    Re: a title

I am happy to help, but the relationships are still not clear.

The thesis whose title we are creating:

It analyzes/describes what? The way the individual who has an investment business can make money? The ways in which he can invest the money of his clients to their best advantage? Whose money is this private professional investing, his own or his customers'?

    Re: a title

    Thank you again!
The individual- that means here any person who has got a trade list (and runs his/her own business) doesn´t want to invest anybody´s money...he/she needs to invest their money not to be in a loss, not to lose any of their money for examle due to inflation...
and the diploma work, thesis as you call it, deals with possible ways how to prevent the loss...how to ´valorize´:o)))) their money to have more...

    Re: a title

    OK. Something like these, perhaps:

The Maximization of Personal/Individual Investment Income
Hedging against Personal Business Losses through Investment
    Individual/Personal Investment Strategies
    Investment Strategies for the Self-employed

(I'm afraid that it is getting late here in Yokohama, so I won't be able to respond again until our morning. If you have further concerns, another member may help you. Good luck with your translation.)
