which is the exact meaning of the expression " I've been burned on tips" and when is it used?
Thanx for you attention
I've never met it. But there is an expression 'to have/get your fingers burned' - meaning 'to have a painful reminder of what not to do': 'I've had my fingers burned once too often, so now I always insist on cash in advance'. Maybe the person who said 'burned on tips' was half-remembering this idiom.
