    Re: Usage of Article "a"

    Hello,

I am not a teacher, but maybe 'My mode of transport is the bus' it's better. You are taking about one specific stuff (your mode of transport).

'My mode of transport is a bus' has one meaning like it's your own bus.

For your second quote I prefer 'I usually travel by bus', but I'm not Englsih.

    Have a nice day.

You're not talking about a specific bus, but the concept of bus travel: by bus. Similarly, by telephone doesn't specify any particular telephone (land line, Nokia, Siemens) it is the concept of the technology.

    Hello anupumh,

I think the best thing is to show us why you want write an indefinite article before the name 'bus'.

What meaning would you like to write in your phrase. Are you talking about your own bus, the bus in general or another stuff.

    See you later.

It could be any bus, there are variety of buses, private bus, local bus, luxary bus, air conditioned bus, etc. Thus if I am not specifying then I think it will be more appropriate to use "a" than "the".........

    Re: Usage of Article "a"

    Hi again,

I understand what do you mean, but if you want to use the indefinite article in a sentence you should write it in a global phrase, in which the bus you have taken is one bus amid a lot of.

E.g: Today, I am in holiday in France an I take a bus to go to Marseille.

    Bye,
