what is the nearest building from the restaurent?

    Hello.

I know "what is the nearest building to the restaurent?" is more proper.
however, is it grammartically wrong to say "what is the nearest building from the restaurent?"

Please let me know! thank you

The second one is not really acceptable, though that's the way it works in other languages like French. PS it's "restaurant."
