    ..have just hired.../ hired.....just now

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to share with me your opinion concerning the grammar correctness of the following sentences?

I have just hired a new pianist from St.Joe – a Negro. (Dreiser)

I hired a new pianist from St.Joe just now. (my version)

    He has just come.

    He came just now.

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

The original sentences are much better. Why are you changing them?

Re: ..have just hired.../ hired.....just now

    Hi timjphillips,

Thank you for showing interest to my wording.

Sure enough I know that with adverb “just” the Present Perfect is used and with the expression “just now” the Past Perfect is used as well as the statement “just known” is less frequent than “just”.

I intended only to display publicly a various reading of an original text using the Past Indefinite or the Present Perfect.

    Regards,

    V.
