    colonial visitor

    Hi

The Aborigines’ indifference to material goods confused early colonial visitors.

--- Are colonial visitors the same as colonists? Or maybe these are just the people who went to visit Australia when it was colonized, but they had nothing to do with the colonists?

    Re: colonial visitor

It is referring to those people who travelled into the remoter regions of unknown countries to look for either somewhere to settle or someone with who to carry out trade, where they encountered indigenous peoples who had no need of material goods. It is a sloppy use of colonial.

    Hi

Are you sure they can't be some guests who visited Australia when it was colonized?

I believe it could mean visitors to the colony. To say that they have nothing to do with the colonists is probably wrong, but they aren't the colonists.
