    which is correct?

    1) He describes several user equipments.

    2) He describes several user pieces of equipment.

I believe it should the second as one should say, "pieces of equipment" and not "equipments"; such as, he has many pieces of equipment instead of he has many equipments.

Please advise. Thank you very much.

    Re: which is correct?

You are correct! Equipment is an uncountable noun, so it is not made plural by the addition of an s. The first sentence is indeed incorrect. The second sentence can be made correct by changing the word order so that it reads, "He describes several pieces of user equipment."

    Re: which is correct?

    chadley25,

Thank you so much for your reply. Now, the "user equipment" refers to devices such as a cell phone, a PDA, an Ipod, a mobile device, overall to "pieces of equipment"; thus, I still write it, "pieces of user equipment?"

    Thank you

    Re: which is correct?

Yes, but I have to tell you that I didn't have that definition of "user equipment" so you may have to explain that if your audience may not know it.
