    the use of the word 'one' .

    I have heard many americans use the word 'one' in a sentence . eg ... they will say that 'one' boy ...... or that one shoe ... it does not seem correct to me . Is it? any help appreciated

    Maybe they are referring to a single boy or a single shoe. Without context it looks ok to me.
