    How to ask this?

I want to ask whether or not planes are conics.
How can I ask this in a nice way?

    Thanks :)

May I inquire as to whether planes may be considered conics? (They're not.)

    Re: How to ask this?

Another common way to ask a polite question is to separate the politeness function from the question:

Student: Excuse me, Professor. May I ask you a question?
Professor: Of course. What is it?
    Student: Are planes conics?
OR: Is a plane a conic? Can you call a plane a conic?

Let a circle be the curve and the node point the center of the circle...
