    articles--a and the

1 The music machines themselves are all on one iMAC computer and you can access each one with the click of a mouse.
2 Instead of buying newspapers, more and more people get the latest news simply with a click of a mouse
    Dear teacher,

I know both of them are grammatically correct, but I am wondering why one is using a definite article (=the) while another is using a indefinite article (=a) under alomst same circumstances. Do you have any idea? Thanks in advance.

Stylistic choice of the writers concerned.

    Re: articles--a and the

In the first sentence, the writer refers to a specific form of entertainment input - 'music machines'; then refers to ONE specific computer of all the computers in the world (and computers are used to play music - but we are specifically talking iMac here)) - '...on one iMac computer' (note the spelling of iMac) ; then further specifies by talking about "(can access) each one (=iMac) with...'

...that's why he continues this idea of bringing it down, from everything in the world, to one specific type of technology (music machines), and then a specific computer with one of its specific functions of acting as a music machine, to one specific click of the mouse attached to the "one(=specific) iMac"- and what is implied here, that you can do this with the specific iMac you own...or COULD own, because that's how good they are...so go buy one!.

Can you see this idea of particularly 'specifying which' in the second sentence????

[COLOR="Purple"]"...more and more people get the latest news simply with a click of a mouse" (attached to any old computer - so any old Click with do.

It is still the choice of the writers which to use.
