    "I couldn't find a taxi so I took a livery cab"

"I couldn't find a taxi, so I took a livery cab" what does "Livery cab" mean?

A cabriolet that is available for hire. But in this instance probably it is a car belonging to a hire company as opposed to a taxicab that picks up fares from the street.
