    How do I complete them?
    1.By the time he realised where his career was going in the late 90s, it was too late.
    words given: in/which
    >

    2. He now regrets writing the article because it was that that caused him all the problems he's had
    words given: now wishes/but for/not
    >

    He 'regrets' something he did; he 'now wishes' he had not done this thing.

    'If he had not written the article = 'but for (the writing of) the article'
    he would not have the problems...
