Part of the reason for primal peoples’ respect for nature is their ability to
empathise with it. Like the Pueblo Indians in Edward T. Hall’s story – who were reluctant to begin ploughing in spring while the earth was “pregnant with new life” – they have the ability to “feel with” natural phenomena, and so are reluctant to damage or destroy them, in the same way that they are reluctant to kill animals.
--- Does "feel with" mean here "sympathize with nature"?
Also, does "natural phenomena" just mean "nature", "environment"?
