    What is the verb phrase of the following sentence? "In our house mom is the boss."

    Form: prepositional phrase
    Function: adverb. It answers the question, Where?

    Mom (note, If "Mom" is what you call her, then a capital is required)
    Form: noun
    Function: subject

    Form: third person, present singular verb
    Function: linking verb

    the boss
    Form: noun phrase (determiner + noun)
    Function: subject complement, specifically predicate nominal.

    In this, I'd say the verb phrase is everything excepts 'mom'.
