    I gave him three mouthfulls of food

    I gave him first three mouthfuls of food on his hand and then he ate by himself.


    Please correct this sentence and provide me with better versions.

    I mean first three mouthfuls of the food (which is a mixture of rice and curry) was given to him by me.
    To be more clear, I took a pinch of the food and fed him, and then I took a pinch of the food and fed him, and in this way I gave him three times. But then I asked him to eat by himself.
