    Smile Analysis of HOW

    Dear Teachers,

    for example:
Pls show me to how to analyse english sentences.

    here is my question.

the "how" in the above sentence is regarded as conjunction or interrogative adverb ?

if it is interrogative adverb, is it used in asking indirect question ?

    wholehearted thanks

    1. Show me how to analyse a sentence.
    2. Show me that.

The subordinate clause in #1 is linked to the main clause by the subordinate conjunction how, which functions as an adverb: to analyse a sentence how? To analyse a sentence thus. The subordinate clause is a non-finite (infinitive) clause and it acts as the direct object of the verb show. Show what? Show that. Show how to... .
me is the indirect object; it is the thing to whom the direct object (instructions: how to analyse a sentence) is given.

If the "how" here is conjunction, it should be followed by subject + predicate.

for example: show me how you analyse a sentence.

It is because conjunction can only be used to connect clauses which have subject and predicate.

    thanks.

The subject is covert and the predicate is non-finite.

I see your argument and I have to tell you it is based on the fallacious assumption that non-finite clauses have not a subject and a predicate. In both cases how is a conjunction and introduces a subordinate clause, finite or non-finite, with or without an overt subject, respectively.
