    Smile Subjunctive or Indicative mood

    Dear teachers,

    for example:

    1. If you are 60 years old, what will you be doing?
    2. If you are 60 years old, what would you be doing?
    3. If you were 60 years old, what would you be doing?

Could you tell me the difference in meaning among the above 3 questions?
Assuming that the second person in the above questions is 25 years old.

    My analysis is as follow:

the first question is right, because the question is in indicative mood which means the person asking the question is sure that you will live to more than 60 years old.

the second question is right, because you are likely to live to more than 60 years old so we use "are" in the if clause, but it is subjunctive question, so we use "would" in the main clause.

the third question is also right but it means that the second person is not likely to live long.

Thanks in earnest. pls give me guidance.
I love English so I analyse it in different angles.

Is the only correct sentence. It is conditional.

    HTH.

Even though you have now edited the OP kloo, number 3 is still the only grammatically correct choice.
