    Usage of between

    Dear Teachers,
    I'd like to ask: What does it mean "A number between 1 and 5." Is it 2,3,4 only?
    Thank you for your kind help

    Re: Usage of between

    In my math class, it includes 1 and 5. It depends on your math teacher.

    Re: Usage of between

    With respect, I would disagree that 'between' can, by virtue of its meaning, ever be understood as including the other two numbers. If 1 and 5 were to be included, the correct expression would, in my view, be 'a number from 1 to 5'.

    This is what it means:

    A = {x∈R/1<x<5}

    {2.2; 3.7; 1.9; 4.6783574; ...} ∈A

    Philo is correct.
