Possessive or Not? (Last Names and Apostrophes)

We are going to purchase a welcome mat for our home. I say it should read "The Grays". My husband says it is acceptable to read "The Grays' " because people will know that it is the house/home/property which is referred.

    So which should it be?

The Grays - as in "The Grays live here."
    or
The Grays' - as in "This is the Grays' home."

I would recommend the first option "The Grays", no apostrophe.
