    I don't know which is the correct word.

    Will you say

    Apple has 2 voices or Apple has 2 sounds?
    Banana has 3 voices or Banana has 3 sounds?
    Car has 1 voice or Car has 1 sould?

    The word is syllable. A syllable is equivalent to a Chinese character in sound.
    ap ple....ping guo
    ba na na.....xiang jiao
