    Always + Present Progressive

    Hello,
I already wrote this thread some days ago (Simple Past ), but it seems I forgot to submit it...

As far as I know, always is a signal word for Simple Present.
    I always drive carefully.

However, in some U.S. TV series I heard the opposite.
(The 1st is from Still Standing; the 2nd from According to Jim):
Well, honey, me and your mom are always looking for ways to be better parents.
You know how you're always saying the client is the boss,...

I would like to know why they did not use always look and always say

    Thank you!

    Cheers!

    Re: Always + Present Progressive

    Hello! I'm not a teacher.

There is a clear explanation in my grammar book. Here it is:

I'm always doing something - I do it very often, perhaps too often, or more often than normal.

...me and your mom are always looking for ways to be better parents (they look too often).

...you're always saying the client is the boss,... (you say it too often).

    I hope it makes sense.

    Re: Always + Present Progressive

    Hi and thanks.
Yes, it makes sense to me!

I know that Present Progressive can also be used for future.
I'm at the party tonight. (It is 100% for sure!)
So I can see a small similarity (logically seen) why it can be used with always.

    Thank you

    Cheers!
