    Should be

    Hi,

Writing "Recent interesting literature on this topic should be [a, b, c]", I want to emphasize the importance of references [a, b, c]. Please tell me if "should be" is good usage! Should I shortly put "is" there?

Thank in advance for your discussion. A Merry Christmas to all!

    Re: Should be

It's difficult to tell, without the full context; but it doesn't seem quite right to me.

    You could say:

    1. Some important recent publications on this subject include [a, b, c].

As MrPedantic said, "it's difficult to tell, without the full context". Regarding technical literature (let us say math or physics), I prefer the simpler:
    - Recent results on this topic can be found in [a, b, c].
    - See recent interesting results in this topic in [a, b, c].
    - Some interesting results in this topic can be found in the recent literature [a, b, c].

If you provide further context, maybe we can say something else.
