    knowing

    Hi,

    Background:
The sentence in this post is a question in my job application form.

    My questions:
What does "knowing" mean in my sentence?

Knowing = having personal experience of
    or
Knowing = have sth in my mind as a result of experience
    ?

    Sentence:
Describe a time when you have been in a challenging situation knowing that your time and capability would be stretched.

    Thanks

It is not a very well-constructed -- or, for that matter, clear -- sentence. Certainly there should at least be a comma before "knowing."

The problem is that the phrases are not exactly parallel. I would rewrite it as:

Describe a time when you have been in a challenging situation, one where you knew that your time and capability would be stretched.
