when can i use this structure?

    consider the following sentence:
    1)i elected him president
    S+ V group + object + nominal object complement

is any transitive verb can be used in this structure?

furthermore, the sentence: i elect him as a president
    S+V group + object+prepositional object(as a Recipient adverbial)
is there any difference between sentence 1)?

    thank you.

    'to elect' - transitive verb

Sentence 1 has the same meaning as 2. You'll hear 1 more often.
