    Re: priposition problem

Hello arun, and welcome to the forums.

Here is one way to think of it:

If A is made FROM B, B is changed in some way to create A. The grapes are processed to make wine.

If A is made OF B, B is assembled, glued, sewn, cut and pasted, or put together in some way to create A. The shirt is made directly from cotton.

If someone took grapes and made them into a sculpture, the sculpture would be made OF grapes.

Sometimes the words are used interchangeably, however, so the rule is a bit too simple.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    Re: priposition problem

If something undergoes a process that makes it lose its initial appearence, you should use "from", otherwise, use "of".

When something is made/got/derived/extracted from something use ‘from’
    Paper is made from wood.
I got the idea from my teacher.
Many students derived enormous satisfaction from the course.
This word is derived from Latin
When you want to indicate something that is made (out) of something such as any kind of material, component parts, substance etc, use ‘of
    a shirt made of silk
An utensil made of stainless steel.
This toy is made of plastic.
