show somebody the back of my hand?

"Respect? I'll show her the back of my hand if some food doesn't come soon."

Is it saying to punch someone by using the fist?

I guess it refers to a slap where palm and fingers(fore of hand) are not used. The other side of them is used.(I am saying this way to avoid totology because the question already involves "back of hand".)

    Since I'm not a native-speaker or a teacher, so, what I said needs confirmation by a native-speaker

And by the way I think a punch is already made with fist, so it would be a repetition(the word "fist" is redundant)

I agree in most respects -it generally refers to a slap, usually to the face, where the hand strikes across the face so that the back of the knuckles does the striking. It's usually intended to injure more than an open-handed slap.

In this case though, "I'll show her the back of my hand..." is merely the threat of such a blow.

Slapping the person with the back of the hand is correct.

As is the remark about fist being redundant.
