Hello,
Years ago when I was on vacation I played billiard against an English man.
I did a lucky move and I asked him:
"By the way, what is the opposite of luck?"
He said a word which sounded like "white".
However, I have never found such a word.

Do you know anything about this?

Cheers!

One reply you might hear is, "It wasn't luck, it was skill."

Hello and thanks for your advice :)

No, it was neither skill nor jinx.
Maybe he missunderstood my question and thought I meant "black"?
(But funny pronounced [blak], not [blaek] - who knows? :-D)

Cheers

Maybe he didn't hear your question (or ignored it), and was just nominating the next ball he was going to sink.

maybe 'knack'? which is a skill or an ability to do something easily and well.

DICT: A specific talent for something, especially one difficult to explain or teach.
