    search / research

    Hi

    Background:
I gather information about company shares, and then analyze the infomation.

    Question:
    1) Should I use “searched, researched or other words”?
    2) Should I use "in, via or through"?

    Sentence:
    I searched /researched / ??? company shares in / via / through the Internet.

    Thanks

If this is something you do rather than something you did then "I research..." is appropriate. I would say "on" or "via" the internet.

If this was something I did, will you change your answer?

I doubt it. "research" is correct.
bhai is pointing out the parallelism between your "background" and your "sentence":
    I gather information ... and
    I research company shares ...
If you want to say you gathered information, you'd write "I researched..."
