Are "none of them" and "not any of them" equivalent?

Are "none of them" and "not any of them" equivalent?
We use "none of them are ...". So I'd like to know if we use "not any of them are ...." or "not any of them is ..."?
    Thanks.

We don't use the phrase "not any of them".
