    a man of action

And he was a man of action too--in his early youth he had been a cavalry officer.

in this sentence, a man of action refers to a soldier or warrior or adventurer or what?

    Re: a man of action

A "man of action" describes a man who physically acts out in given situations, rather than one who quietly thinks and strategizes. A man of action prefers to go out and do something, rather than stay back at headquarters and plot things out on a map.
