Difference in saying "going out to.." & "going out for.."

    Hi All,

Can you explain me, How to/when to use words "going out to" and "going out for" in a sentence?

Is there any difference in saying like below?

Sen1: We are going out for dinner.
Sen2: We are going out to dinner with guest/somebody.

    Thanks in advance.

In my opinion, "We are going out to..." should be followed by a verb, so the sentence would read "We are going out to HAVE dinner with friends".

If you use "We are going out for...." it can be followed by a noun, as you correctly said in Sentence 1.
